About me
I am a woman, 47 years old, with two grownup sons. I was born in Crete, Greece.
I studied french literature in Athens University and graduated in 1981 while I was pregnant to my first child. Out of love for translation as soon as I gave birth to my son, I took a trilingual exam in KE.ME.DI., Corfu (later Ionian University) and was accepted with a scholarship in the first year of translation department (languages french, english, greek).
Although I had high marks I didn't make it to the second -and last- year of studies because of absences, due to my frequent travels for family reasons.
When back home I took an exam and was accepted in first year of english literature in same University where I studied french literature (in order to improve my second language, english).
Then I gave birth to my second child and a little later I divorced.
I worked for a while as secretary and afterwards in high schools as part-time french professor.
In 1988-90 I studied literary translation in French Institute of Athens (graduated there).
During all this time in parallel with my other occupations I worked as free-lance translator (native tongue greek, first language french, second language english) mostly in magazines, but with other clients also, as for instance, United Nations Organization, Athens office.
Of course I also translated a lot as an amateur for my personal pleasure and pursuits.
The years following 1990, free-lance translation became my full-time profession and I believe internet contributed considerably to it, when I started surfing in 1998, for business, education and amusement, inter alia helping me to improve the quality of my translations and the level of my languages. At present I'm working with a Pentium 4/Windows XP desktop, a HP officejet all-in-one (fax, scanner, printer) and a HP laptop/Windows XP.
Interests
My interests include art, politics, religion, nature, computers, cooking, pets, fashion, esotericism, games and some other, (e.g. geopolitics) that I omit because of their very special character.Mes logiciels
